Francesca Delcroix, easily Rome’s own Pearl Mesta and excellent art historian, lives in this splendid old building. She’s the elegant lady who hosted a dinner party for us the other night. We met her in Rome several years ago. Francesca’s flat is on the top floor here. One climbs a multitude of cold, old, dark steps up to her sunny place. Bright yellow slipcovers on sofas, old lovely rugs, walls of fine art, candles haphazardly stuck in old chandeliers. She hosts regular salons, cooking every dish herself with no help and loves to mix and match people. We’ll see her next week and I’ll ask permission to snap a photo.
