"HOW TO LOOK AT ART!" GOES INTERNATIONAL
(Due to Loving Art's commitments to television and exhibition projects through 2016, our European art tours will resume in 2018.) ITALY: ROME AND NAPLES: (2014) Come with us for a fabulous trip following in the footsteps of the great artist Caravaggio in October of 2014. This trip, "Chasing Caravaggio" will give you a chance to walk through the artist's neighborhood, learn about his life, and see his magnificent works in this region.ITALY: NAPLES (2012) Karen and Arthur will visit the Pio Monte della Misercordia in Naples for a tour of Francesco de Mura's works, a visit with Caravaggio's masterpiece, "The Seven Acts of Mercy" and a presentation by Arthur there on "Francesco de Mura in America."
WASHINGTON, D.C.: (2012) An elegant evening at the Italian Embassy featured Arthur speaking on "Francesco de Mura in America" after a day of art at the U.S. Capitol hosted by Rep. John Mica (a great art lover) who toured us through the Capitol art collection. Stops at the National Gallery of Art; the Hirshhorn Museum of Art; the Smithsonian; the Corcoran; and the Phillips Collection.
PARIS: (2011) We took 15 art lovers to Paris and the Isle de France in October of 2011. It was an unforgettable week long course in the art treasures of the Isle de France, the Louvre, and other great French museums.
ITALY: ROME, FLORENCE AND NAPLES (2007) Arthur and Karen lived in Rome for nearly two months on a Rollins College Petters Research grant, traveling to Florence and Naples to research the Neapolitan artist Francesco de Mura for a future exhibition.
SPAIN: MADRID, BILBOA, BARCELONA (2005) Arthur and Kären led a group of 20 through Spain with stops at the fabulous Bilboa Museum.
NEW YORK CITY (2004) Piccaso and Matisse were the focal point of this art-filled trip with a visit to the blockbuster show in Queens. Arthur lectured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, too, as art lovers toured the lively Valesquez show.
ITALY: ROME, NAPLES, AND SICILY (2003) This was an art lovers extravaganza. A fantasic trip through museums and cathedrals with 20 art lovers in the Eternal City, Naples, and an unforgettable tour of the magnificent island of Sicily.
THE NETHERLANDS: BELGIUM, AMSTERDAM (2000). The Bruge Madonna and Rembrandt inspired this group of 25 as we toured wonderful Netherland cities. A spectacular Van Dyke show kept us intrigued for a full day. A special highlight was a private art tour of the Dutch collector whose grandfather founded the Reich Museum.
ITALY: MILAN, FLORENCE, MONTEPULCIANO/ORVIETO (1996) Our group of 20, led by Arthur, submerged ourselves in a living art course that included 3 nights in Milan to see Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper and the splendor of the town's Gothic and Renaissance churches the on to Florence for 8 nights and tours of the Duomo with its dome by Brunelleschi, the Campanile Museum of the Catheral, the Baptistery, the Uffizi Galleries, the Pitti Palace, the Boboli Gardens, the Bargello Palace and Museum, the San Marco Convent and Church of San Lorenzo. We visited Pisa's medieval cathedral and leaning tower then on to San Gimignano with its fine towers of nobility, Arrezzo, and Siena a city encircled by ramparts.
